This is my left hand after only two or three hours of work. The cardboard in the boxes dries my skin so that every time I touch something, my fingers bleed. My wife is a saint for occasionally letting these touch her.
And I guess I can kiss my dream of being a hand model goodbye (pffsh…)
Downtown Roanoke in the park.
Hello, hurricane - you’re not enough
Hello, hurricane - you can’t silence my love
I’ve got doors and windows boarded up
All your dead end fury is not enough
You can’t silence my love!

This was the coolest tree!
So this past Thursday morning, Kelsey and I loaded up ol’ Lilly (my car) and we headed out on a six and a half hour drive to a place called Emerald Isle. It’s a beach - a wonderful beach where someone in her family owns a trailer. It was, without a single doubt in my mind, the best time of my life so far. I felt so at home there - and without ever having been there in my life! The first day, I even found myself accidentally calling the trailer “home”. It felt so right. Kelsey and I spent - literally - every moment from 7:30 AM Thursday morning until we got back to her house Sunday evening together. She hardly left my reach, even. It was so incredible, and I’ll never forget it. I know Kelsey really enjoyed herself there - she loves it there. I’ve never been so deeply sad to leave somewhere. It hurt my heart knowing how much everything felt like home there and knowing that I had to come back to a place that I no longer consider home - back to a job that I know only leads to a dead end. From the moment that the front tires of my car touched the huge bridge onto the island, I knew that I was going to feel that way. This is a happy post, though! So - as it turns out -> I love Emerald Isle. I love everything about it. And, as if I didn’t already know - I know for sure now that Kelsey and I can go at least 4 days of being together without pause - and not kill each other - or even irritate each other. I got some wonderful photos of everything as well, which you’ll see periodically on here and you can see all of them on my Flickr - here - .
I FINALLY got a Nikon DSLR!!!! It’s a D5100 and I love it! My aunt very generously got it for me for my birthday and I can’t wait to start taking great shots with it!
